Skills and knowledge: medical assisting
As a medical assistant, you will help a physician examine and treat patients, perform laboratory work and keep medical records. Our diploma program provides hands-on training in the skills you will need to perform those responsibilities well. You will be prepared to
- take vital signs and patient histories
- prepare for and assist with medical and surgical procedures
- collect and process lab specimens
- perform an ECG
- take and process x-rays
- recognize and assess a cardio emergency
- perform CPR and first aid
