A medical assistant must react quickly, make good decisions under pressure and communicate easily with clients and co-workers in a diverse community. At Globe University in Wausau, the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Medical Assistant degree program prepares students for those complex responsibilities.

Medical skills and general education
The AAS in medical assistant program includes all scientific and medical skills training included in our Medical Assistant Diploma program, including laboratory procedures, drawing blood, taking x-rays and assisting with clinical surgery.
In addition to that technical training, a student in the associate program selects general education courses from a long list of electives. Studying subjects such as creative writing, Spanish, world literature, psychology and information technology provides critical thinking and analytic skills and a broad perspective. For that reason, many employers prefer applicants with two-year degrees.
